Abstract
Background and Objective: Iran is a disaster-prone country and occurrence of disasters is inevitable. Early warning system is one of the most aspects in hospital preparedness. This research aim to determine the effect of early warning system on hospital readiness.
Material and Methods: This research was conducted in Motahari hospital in Tehran city, 2014. To perform early warning system based on the national program of readiness for disaster, we had frequent sessions with some health experts and the members of disaster committee. The level of readiness was evaluated by WHO's checklist before.
Results: Following intervention, hospital preparedness rate increased by 25 scores demonstrating significant raise from moderate to high.
Conclusion: In regard with average level of readiness in Motahari hospital and its significant increase after using early warning system, we recommend applying this system for improving the level of hospital disaster preparedness.

Abstract
Background: Patient safety is one of the main components of the health care services quality that implies avoidance of any harm or damage to the patient during the delivery of health care. The purpose of this study was to determine the patient safety culture from the view point of nurses in the hospitals of Guilan province in 2016.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was done on 400 nurses from the nurse community in Guilan province, Iran in 2016. The sampling was performed as the two-stage cluster sampling method. Data were collected using a modified questionnaire based on the Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture (HSOPSC). Data were presented with descriptive statistics analysis using in SPSS-14. The significant level was considered less than 0.05.
Results: Most of the nurses were female (89%), with a mean age of 34.28±6.86 years. The most response to the items was related to “Please give your work area/unit in this hospital an overall grade on patient safety” that was the acceptable option (47.5%). The mean score of the patient safety was 3.28 ±0.86.
Conclusions: The results showed two dimensions including staffing and teamwork within units. Feedback and communication about errors were the most important dimensions of the patient safety culture. Accordingly, it should be noted that paying more attention to the patient safety culture can lead to improve hospital condition levels.

Abstract
Background: Physical activity reduces the risk of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). The precise mechanism for reducing CHD risk after physical activity has not been determined. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and some biochemical parameters in patients with Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS).
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on patients with ACS referring to Heshmat Medical Center in 2016. Convenient sampling method was used and 280 eligible patients with ACS were included in the study. For data gathering the checklist was used for demographic characteristics of patients and biochemical parameters and the Baecke Questionnaire was used to assess the patients’ physical activity. The data were analyzed in PASW Statistics for Windows, Version 18.0. Chicago: SPSS Inc. using Spearman correlation and multiple regression analyses. The significance level was set at P>0.05.
Results: The results showed that 67% of the patients were male and the mean age of the patients was 62.38±12.01 years. The BUN blood urea nitrogen (r=-.121 and -.177) and blood creatinine level (r=-.259 and -.185) had a significant correlation with physical activity in general and at the work hours, (P<.05). However, these correlations were poor, and only the correlation between the creatinine level and physical activity at work was moderate.
Conclusions: The correlation between physical activity level and biochemical parameters was not observed in our study. However, because the protective effect of physical activity on the cardiovascular system is clearly observed, it is suggested that appropriate physical activity and regular fitness be incorporated in the care plan for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Further clinical studies are recommended.

Abstract
Background: Improving patient safety is a common international priority because errors and other forms of unnecessary damage to the process of patient care and treatment are global problems. Training programs such as web-based programs enhance the patient safety culture in staff. This study was carried out to evaluate the impact of virtual collaborative learning with mobile devices on patient safety culture among the staff of a maternity center.
Methods: This study was conducted on staff working in Kowsar Hospital of Qazvin in 2019 with a pretest-posttest design. Sixty-three eligible participants were recruited using convenience sampling. The educational contents were shared on a website. Data were collected online using the hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture questionnaire. Educational intervention sessions were held once a week, for 8 weeks. The paired t-test and chi-square test were used for statistical analysis. The significance level was set at 0.05.
Results: The mean score of safety culture increased significantly from 141.19±16 to 147.93±14.05 after the intervention (P<0.001). Error reporting at the center also increased significantly after the intervention (P<0.001).
Conclusion: This research showed that the collaborative method using mobile learning can be effective for the promotion of patient safety culture among the maternity center staff.

Abstract
Background: Available evidence on the efficacy of sweet solutions for reducing pain in infants is insufficient. This study aimed to assess the effects of 10% oral dextrose on the pain of infants during venipuncture.
Methods: This randomized controlled clinical trial was done on 60 infants undergoing venipuncture. Eligible infants were randomly assigned into an intervention and control group. Two minutes before venipuncture, 2 ml of 10% oral dextrose solution and 2 ml of water were given to the intervention and control groups, respectively. The infants' pain intensity during the procedure was measured by two independent experts based on the Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, and CONSOL ability Behavioral Pain Scale. Data were analyzed using independent t-test and ANOVA tests. A P-value of ≤0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: The mean (±standard deviation) age of infants in the intervention and control groups were 6.37 (2.96) and 9.03 (3.10) months, respectively (P0.05). In addition, the standardized mean difference in pain score between the two groups was -0.2 (95% confidence interval: -0.30 to 0.71). Despite a significant difference (P=0.003) in the pain score between females and males, the effect of intervention after gender effect correction was not statistically significant.
Conclusion: Using 2 ml of 10% oral dextrose 2 minutes before venipuncture has a weak and non-significant effect on the pain of infants. Based on the effect size and 95% confidence interval, conducting further trials with a larger study population is recommended.

Abstract
Background: Toxoplasmosis poses a significant risk to pregnant women because of its potential for vertical transmission to the fetus. This study aimed to evaluate the knowledge and preventive practices of pregnant women regarding toxoplasmosis.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 506 pregnant women attending urban comprehensive health centers in Gorgan, northern Iran, between January 2023 and September 2024. Participants were selected using a stratified multistage cluster sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire with established validity and reliability. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS version 25. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA), the independent-samples t-test, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. A p-value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: A total of 506 pregnant women participated in the study. The mean maternal age was 26.79 ± 6.89 years, the mean gestational age was 25.88 ± 9.05 weeks, and the mean monthly household income was 8.85 ± 6.44 million Iranian rials. Overall, 41.7% of participants demonstrated poor knowledge regarding toxoplasmosis, and knowledge levels were predominantly poor to moderate, whereas 77% of participants correctly answered the questions assessing preventive practices. Statistical analysis revealed a significant positive correlation between maternal age and knowledge scores (r = 0.123, p = 0.006), as well as between household income and practice scores (r = 0.10, p = 0.02). In other words, higher household income was associated with better preventive practice scores. Multivariable regression analysis identified maternal age (B = 0.09, p = 0.005) and household income (B = 0.11, p = 0.002) as independent predictors of knowledge scores, while household income independently predicted practice scores (B = 0.06, p = 0.01).
Conclusion: The findings of this study indicate that knowledge regarding toxoplasmosis among pregnant women remains at a moderate to low level, whereas preventive practices are generally satisfactory. Integrating targeted education on toxoplasmosis into routine antenatal care services may represent an effective strategy for improving maternal and fetal health outcomes in endemic regions such as northern Iran.
